| Timothy Calvin Boyce Dip. Real Estate, MSc, MIH, FIMCA is a Barbadian and the Managing Director of Caribbean Tourism Investment Management Inc. (CTIM Inc.). He made the switch from Chartered Accounting studies to the Hotel and Tourism industry in 1970. He has an Accounting background and started his career in the Hotel Industry as a Systems and Internal Auditor with Commonwealth Holiday Inns of Canada. In 1972 he joined Trust House Forte Hotels as an Assistant Financial Comptroller at Sandy Lane Hotel and during his twelve years with the company he worked and trained in their European Resorts in Sardinia, Amsterdam, Belgium, Malta, Paris and London before returning to Sandy Lane as the Financial Comptroller. Mr. Boyce is very experienced in all aspects of the Hotel and Tourism Industry but has a special liking for the Restructuring and repositioning of unprofitable Hotels, the negotiation of Hotel Management contracts and ongoing research to develop and implement innovative methods for the sustainability of the Tourism Industry. He emphasizes the use of the “Uniform System of Accounting for Hotels” as the Management tool for the ongoing monitoring of profitability in Hotels & Restaurants for the sustainability of the Industry. In 1982 he accepted the challenge of reviving the Crane Beach Hotel from receivership and to this end he left the Trust House forte Group (Sandy Lane Hotel) and assumed the role of General Manager of the Crane Beach Hotel. After restructuring the Hotel he was asked by its Canadian owners to devise a plan for the development of this twenty-five room, forty three acre site and he introduced the Mix-Use model for its development. After completing the model he took the property to the International market for sale and after two years of making presentations in Europe and North America he finally sold the property and the development model to its present owners. Mr. Boyce is currently pursuing doctorial studies and his thesis is “Implementable strategies for sustainable Tourism in the Caribbean”. He is adamant that the sustainability of the Hotel Industry in the Caribbean must be pivoted around Mix-Use property development, which has the capacity to produce a better average spend per person, an upgraded plant, attract a visitor with a stronger discretionary income, make the industry less dependant on mass market tour operators while producing a debt free accommodation sector. In this model the Hotel maintenance costs is subsidized by its condo owners, and its marketing is assisted by the efforts of the owners. Management can therefore concentrate on packaging a Caribbean holiday experience that provides repeat clients, profitability and thus the sustainability of the product. After selling the Crane Beach Hotel and assisting the present owners to settle in and commence their project he left and formed the company “Caribbean Tourism Investment Management Inc.A Tourism Consulting, Property Investment, Real Estate and Wealth Creation Company. He has been a Director of: • The Barbados Tourism Authority; He is currently a Director of:
